Description
This 1953 Bentley R-Type Saloon . It is equipped with a Manual transmission. The vehicle is Black with a Brown Leather interior. It is offered As-Is, not covered by a warranty. - 1953 Bentley R-Type Chassis No. B295T0 Engine No. B1475 Body No. 6212 After World War II Rolls-Royce resumed car production with the Bentley Mark VI with modifications (larger engine and boot) evolved into the R-Type. Departing from the custom coach bodies of the pre-war era, the first post World War II Bentley cars were factory fitted with steel coach work. A limited number of Mark VI and Rs were re-badged with Rolls-Royce grills and marketed as Silver Dawns. This R-Type was known as the big bore and big boot sports saloon which was advertised as the silent sports - to be driven by its owner. A 4.5-liter six-cylinder engine with a four-speed floor shift makes the car very responsive and fun to drive. According to the original build sheet, this beautifully presented coach was finished from the factory in Masons Black lacquer over brown hides, piping and carpeting with fawn head cloth. The standard steel saloon has been cautiously preserved all of these years, while keeping the Bentleys authenticity and originality in mind. The cars exterior paint, trim-bright work and lamps remain untouched and highly original, including the undercarriage and boot! It is quite apparent this long-term California car was sheltered from moisture and humidity as the body and chassis are incredibly solid, and exterior displays a gorgeous patina throughout. As expected, the finish does exhibit minor flaws and blemishes in areas but over all it is very presentable. The cabins upholstery was beautifully restored around 19 years by a former caretaker. Such an opulent coach as this deserved only the highest quality of hides and wool carpeting. Its fine woodwork was re-polished as well. All instrumentation, electronics, radio and signals remain in proper working order, as well as the desirable sunroof. The numbers-matching motor is reliable and quiet, while the transmission effortlessly shifts through all of its gears; this wonderful saloon certainly offers quite the pleasant autumn driving experience! Notable features include wide white-walled tires, center-mounted driving lamp, a complete factory tool kit, jack and spare assembly. Multiple films of the Bentleys original build sheet are available for inspection and will be included in the sale. The unique features on this car are testament to the luxury and exclusivity it provided when sold new. It has rear foot rest, pullout ash trays from the rear arm rest, bookmatched walnut picnic tray tables, in-dash toolkit, radio, sunroof, rear vanity mirrors, cigarette lighter and more... A Well Preserved Example! California Car with Previous Long-Term Ownership! Numbers-Matching, Solid Body Undercarriage! Complete with Tools, Jack and Spare Assembly! Factory Build Sheet Films! Beautiful interior with many unique features! Desirable Manual Transmission! * One of the finest, hones
