What DIDN"T the 2002 Tii do? It"s the car that put BMW on the performance map in America, it"s the grandfather of the M3 and it started the whole performance sedan craze that continues today! Equipped with Kugelfischer fuel injection and sporting drivetrain and brake upgrades, the Tii fought above its weight from the day it was introduced. Visually, this car hits the right notes. There are touch ups here and there, but the paint is largely original. The trim is clean and bright, again as you"d expect on a 45,000 mile car. Alpina wheels anchor the corners, adding a sporting touch completely in character with the Tii"s mission. The glass is all original, the bumpers retain their anodized coating and the body is straight and true. Inside, original parts run from door to door. Those are the original seats, still supportive and comfortable. The door panels are clean, the headliner is great, and the carpet is new. If you"ve never driven a 2002, you"ll be amazed at the visibility in any direction, thanks to the very thin roof pillars. There"s room in here for 6-foot plus people, too! An original type radio is in the dash, the gauges read clearly and properly, and the car just begs to be driven! Under the hood you"ll find all of the proper fuel injection pieces. That"s the proper cylinder head, injection pump, intake, air cleaner housing, fuel filter mount and more. This isn"t a pieced-together car with parts lost to time! You"ll see the engine compartment has been re-sprayed and hosts proper reproduction decals. It"s as much of a conversation piece as it is a runner! Underneath, the chassis is solid and clean. Years of road use, grime and dirt were present, and we couldn"t just leave it that way. We started with a good pressure washing and degreasing before we scuffed and sanded the original floors and suspension. We touched up the original undercoating before applying an appropriate gray epoxy paint. The suspension pieces were cleaned to nearly new condition before a fresh coat of chassis black. We replaced a couple wear parts here, like the driveshaft support bearing and shifter bushings, and someone in the past had replaced the rear exhaust section, but overall this is a very original chassis! The 2002 is a car on the rise, and the Tii is leading the way. This car, with its low miles, clean condition and highly original look, is one to own! At the Motor Car Group, we"re enthusiasts first.
