Description
The 1969 United States Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on October 5, 1969 at the Watkins Glen Racing Course in New York. It was full of wear and tear, beating up cars and drivers, and ultimately only 6 of the starting 18 cars finished the race. That also meant that the pace car for the race, a 1969 Camaro, would get quite a workout. While this 1969 X44 Camaro Z/28 clone is not the actual car that paced the race back in October of 69, you can still feel the nostalgia when you put the pedal to the metal. The clean straight body fits together superbly and is painted classic Hugger Orange with white stripes. Panel gaps and alignment are spot-on, including the hood and deck lid. The undercarriage is solid. All of the chrome and stainless trim on this car is beautiful, including the bumpers, grille trim and windshield surround. The headlights have been realigned and two running lights have been replaced. The doors shut nicely and the lips and jambs are clean and rust free. Under the hood you will find a strong running small block Chevy 350 inside the highly detailed engine compartment. The block ID is 3970010. The inner fenders, under side of the hood, and core support, are painted to match the body, and the paint job is just as nice as the rest of the car. Up front the radiator is in great shape, the alternator looks to be rebuilt and there is a new battery. Check out those polished aluminum valve covers and chrome air filter! There is an Accel super coil and HEI distributor. The car has had a recent alignment, and the hood stoppers and chrome bars were recently replaced. Mated to the 350 is a turbo 350 automatic transmission. Out back you will find a new gas tank, new springs and an open rear end. The dual exhaust system feeds into a solid single muffler and sounds great. Up front, the sway bar has new bushings, the steering gear is solid and the lower control arm bushings look great. Sitting at all four corners are drum brakes, American Racing wheels and BF Goodrich tires. This Camaro is one solid, straight, ride. This Camaro is also nicely dressed with a fresh black interior and bucket seats. It also includes a lot of reasonably realistic looking wood grain details on the console and dashboard. New front horns with the horn button under the dash, a new dash with console ash trays and a new glove box were recently installed. The speedometer dash light and directional dash lights dash lights have been restored. The trunk is equipped with a new mat. Theres a lot of history packed into the Chevy Camaro. For Formula One fans, its racing history from an era when heroes were made on the track and competition was intense. Beautifully cared for and fun to drive, this is an opportunity to own a piece of history. Call now! 7 days a week 248-974-9513
