Description
Class never goes out of style, as this 1969 Chevelle SS so ably demonstrates. With big block power, its certainly got the performance, but the lovely Fathom Green finish and matching interior, along with the timeless lines of the A-body cars, this is a car that will always be on everyones favorites list. Yes, Fathom Green is this cars original color, and its an excellent choice in the sea of Hugger Orange Chevelles you see at most shows. Sophisticated and subtle, it dresses the heavyweight champ up in a tuxedo for a night on the town, and makes this SS more than just a fast coupe. With excellent finish quality and a single white SS stripe down its flanks, this machine is welcome at the drag strip as well as in front of the most exclusive club in town. Theres no aftermarket cowl induction hood, no goofy wing on the back, just OEM steel and General Motors design that will always be in demand. The correct blacked-out SS grille, SS396 emblems on the flanks, and SS insert in the rear bumper all point pretty convincingly to this being a real SS, and someone has invested heavily in its restoration. Even the chrome has been refinished, and it glitters against the lovely dark green finish. The matching green vinyl interior sports a rare (for an SS) bench seat. While a console and buckets might be on everyones wish list, its cool to see one that remains as-built. I, for one, am a fan of the unusual ones, and this one qualifies. It appears that all the soft parts are recent, including seat covers, door panels, headliner, and carpets, with everything remaining in excellent condition. A fat wood-rimmed steering wheel feels great in your hands and looks racy, and the round gauges have not been cribbed from a Monte Carlo, further evidence that this is a real SS. The engine is a correctly date coded L35 396, which was rated at a stout 325 horsepower. Nicely detailed, it looks great in the satin black engine bay with its Chevy Orange paint and chrome valve covers. A correct air cleaner wears reproduction 396 Turbo Jet 325 Horsepower decals, and it is loaded up with power steering and power disc brakes. A fresh alternator, along with a heavy duty cooling system ensure that the big block runs like it should. Delivering the horsepower is a heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with a Posi unit inside. The chassis itself is in good shape, with no signs of structural rust or damage, and the list of new parts includes brake and fuel lines, gas tank, and a dual exhaust system that sounds great and probably adds a few horsepower. Proper SS wheels wear a set of BFGoodrich T/A radials that really stuff the wheelwells, giving the SS an awesome stance. Sometimes subtle is better, and this unusual big block Fathom Green Chevelle SS is proof. Call today!
