Description
Out of some 10,500 MK V's, only 977 Coupes were produced with the larger, 3.5 Litre engine. Of those, fewer than one-quarter were offered in left-hand drive. A very rare and elegant automobile, this 1950 Drop-Head Coupe is a wonderful example of Britain's post-war automobiles, blending then-traditional lines with modern features and stylings. Large rear fender skirts continuing the flowing lines of the running boards, mudflaps, pre-war chrome Landau irons, faired-in Lucas headlamps, and, of course, a 3-position drop-head convertible top, all contribute to a beautiful and wonderfully unique look. Boasting the extremely reliable and, by 1950, well-proven Jaguar straight-6 (also found in the MK IV, though slightly adjusted for increased power), this 3.5 Litre MK V is truly a pleasure to drive, far more quick and responsive than one would expect (going from 0 to 60 in 20 seconds, topping out at just over 90 mpH). Fully restored and in fabulous condition both aesthetically and mechanically, this particular MK V is well-suited for both the road and the showroom...one would be hard-pressed to find another left-hand drive, 3.5 Litre MK V Coupe, much less one in better condition.
