Description
We love interesting Porsche’s and this week’s feature definitely caters to our tastes. Hoekstra LTD is pleased to present this 1972 Porsche TV. The 911 TV was a carbureted coupe with S front bumper and front and rear sway bars. These cars were a European spec only. The 72 911 TV offered here was originally purchased in Germany by an officer in the USAF and brought back to the States after his tour in West Germany. The car remained in his possession for a number of years used off and on as a second vehicle. The car changed hands in the early 1990’s and was completely restored as a Carrera RS. This was a six year endeavor, all professionally engineered and executed by very capable minds in the automotive engineering arena. The new power plant consists of a 2.2 liter case, utilizing “E” spec pistons and jugs. (S pistons were considered but the dome was deemed too aggressive and would cause excessive valve wear). “S” cams were used; the heads were assembled on a jig with new, precision ground valves, valve guides and springs implemented to the build. All chain tensioner and appropriate upgrades were completed at this time. All this resulted in an aggressive but manageable 10.5.1 compression ratio. The 5-speed gear box was also opened up, rebuilt and resealed accordingly. This car also features new SSI heat exchangers. The exterior restoration began with a rust free, straight forward one-owner car imported from W. Germany. Only restored original or the best NOS parts available were used in the transformation of this 72 TV to a 73 RS. The oil filler door was eliminated per the requirements of the owner. NOS fenders were acquired from Stoddard imports as well as real Porsche NOS steal rear fender flare extensions were acquired and used. All the original bright work was stripped, polished and re-anodized as well as the original Fuch style Porsche wheels. The restoration also features all NOS glass acquired from Stoddard. The suspension and all moving suspension parts have been rebuilt using all polyurathatne bushings and grommets. No expense was spared in restoring the interior with Auto’s international material, RS panels and pulls. This car also features authentic Porsche Aluminum RS bumpers and NOS rear deck lid. After six years of planning, engineering and implementing knowledge and knowhow, the car was unveiled at the Stoddard Imports Porsche Concourse where it won best of show in year 2000. It had to be clarified that the car was not an original RS. Since, the car has been appreciated and cared for by its owner / creator until we were fortunate enough to acquire. These cars are fast appreciating in value - true RS Porsche’s are nearly unobtainable. The quality, performance and reliability of the car offered here is outstanding. This is an opportunity.
